Colt (Chief of Scouts)
Date Published: September 1, 1993
Here's the first volume in the Colt family series featuring cavalry chief of scouts Christopher Columbus Colt. Chris has lost his wife and child to a Crow war party, and when we first encounter him, he's finishing up his revenge.
Later, while scouting for General Custer, Chris uncovers a scheme in which Custer and a group of businessmen are skimming profits and supplies from Indian reservations. As Custer marches off to his destiny at Little Big Horn, he has Chris jailed to ensure his silence. Colt gets out and makes it there, but is captured and held by friend Crazy Horse in the giant Lakota encampment so he cannot interfere and try to help Custer. Chris Colt, a white man, sadly witnesses the Battle of the Little Big Horn but can never speak of it.
